How LanCoach Uses AI
LanCoach (operated by Skill Chamber S.L.) uses artificial intelligence to support teacher-led language learning across the four core skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
This page explains how AI functions within the platform and the safeguards in place to promote responsible educational use.
1. Purpose of AI in LanCoach
LanCoach uses AI to:
- Facilitate interactive speaking practice through structured role-play
- Support listening comprehension activities
- Generate reading-based prompts and contextual exercises
- Provide qualitative feedback on written and spoken language
- Suggest areas for improvement in vocabulary, fluency, clarity, and expression
While speaking practice is a central feature, the platform is designed as a broader interactive learning tool that can support multiple language-learning activities.
2. AI as a Support Tool - Not a Replacement
LanCoach is intended to extend and reinforce classroom instruction, not replace it.
Educators:
- Define learning objectives
- Select and supervise activities
- Interpret feedback in context
- Retain full responsibility for academic assessment
Human oversight remains central to the educational use of the platform.
3. No Automated Grading or Academic Decision-Making
LanCoach does not:
- Assign grades
- Generate quantitative performance scores
- Rank students
- Determine academic progression
- Make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects
The platform provides qualitative, advisory feedback only. All formal evaluation and grading decisions remain the responsibility of the institution and its educators.
4. Transparency of AI Interaction
Users are informed when interacting with AI-generated content.
Responses, prompts, and feedback are produced by automated systems. Although designed to be pedagogically relevant and supportive, AI-generated outputs may occasionally be incomplete, imprecise, or contextually limited.
For this reason, the platform is intended for supervised educational use within institutional environments.
5. Safeguards and Responsible Use
LanCoach incorporates structured design controls intended to:
- Promote age-appropriate interactions
- Align exercises with defined learning objectives
- Keep activities within relevant educational contexts
- Reduce off-topic or inappropriate outputs
The platform is not designed for high-risk decision-making or unsupervised academic evaluation.
Institutions remain responsible for how the platform is implemented within their learning environment.
6. Institutional Access
LanCoach is provided exclusively to educational institutions under separate contractual agreements with Skill Chamber S.L.
The use of the platform is governed by those agreements, including applicable service and data protection terms.
7. Ongoing Development
We continuously evaluate and improve the performance, reliability, and safety of the platform to support responsible AI use in education.
